    s50 swap driveshaft questions

You guys have a TON of great info over here!!!

I am preparing for a s50 swap and while it's pretty common knowledge while using the e36 m3 5spd I will need a e30/m3 driveshaft. However, I ran into an slight problem. Having no luck in the used arena, I found a reasonably priced re-build BUT, there are 2 different drive shafts available for e30 m3! A 87 and older or 88 and newer and everywhere I search simply says "use a e30 m3 drive shaft". For those of you who have done the swap using a e30/m3 driveshaft, which did you use???

Also, I ran across these guys while looking for a rebuilt drive shaft:

Replacement BMW Drive Shaft with new U-joints, CV joint and center support. Our BMW Driveshaft is balanced at 3500 RPM and includes free shipping & warranty

They have an "A" rating at the bbb but since their prices seem to be very good I was curious about their quaility. If anyone has any good or bad experience with them I would love to hear about it.

    Thanks!

    Bob

i used a 1990 driveshaft with the same setup you have...s50 motor, e36 m3 trans, e30/e28 diff. It was a tight squeeze (E34 M5 guibo is a little fat) but it all went together no problem.

You might want to check these guys out for a rebuilt driveshaft. They are very well known and do lots of European brands.

I have a core if you need it for exchange purposes with them.

According to what I've read, that works (only?) with the regular E36 325 Getrag tranny.

What about using the ZF 5 speed driveshaft, then?

If the E36 Getrag driveshaft works, why shouldn't the ZF 5 speed driveshaft?
