any way to tell if the car is chipped or not?

PO tells me it is an M52b28 OBD1 with S52 cams and a tune. Any way for me to verify what tune it's running? I have no check engine light, so either the tune deleted this or the wire isn't hooked up I guess?

Also this motor is normally ODB2, so that means it was converted to ODB1? How would I verify this? I think one easy way to tell would be to check where the cam position sensor is located. On ODB1 cars it would be on the front of the motor as opposed to the back of the block somewhere for ODB2? Is this correct?

    Sorry for the noob questions..

If converted to OBD1 then yes, the Crank Sensor would be positioned on the front timing cover as opposed to being installed at the bottom rear driver side of the block.

An easy way to tell if its been tuned is rev the motor and bounce it off the rev-limiter for a sec. If its over 6500 then most likely it has some sort of aftermarket chip. Most chips raise the limit to 7000-7200RPM

Depending on the year of the car that the engine was swapped into it may not have a check engine light. The only other way to check for codes is to use a Peake reader to pull the codes but that will only work if the C101 adapter was wired correctly to power the diagnostic connector.

Rev limiter is at 7000 so it has some sort of tune. But I guess there's no easy way to tell which tune it is. Thanks.

or look at the ECU. oftentimes i've noticed people will mark the ECUs on the outside with a sticker or sharpie with what chip/tune is inside.

The DME I noticed has someones name written on it and some other word i can't make out. I'm assuming they labeled it at the shop so they didn't get it mixed up with someone elses. But that doesn't help much.

I thought about opening it up but I don't even know what to look for once I'm in there.

Turner Motorsports chip vs stock chip

                It's pretty obvious.
