    s50 down

Hey guys, so the other night I was ripping through the gears. The engine ran bitchin but at the top of third around 6-6.5k it let go and ate some valves :/. Bumbed because I just got it running and on the road. I want to get your opinions on going about fixing the engine or just getting a new one.. if I go at getting a new engine I'm afraid this will happen again so I would want to tear it completely apart. With that kinda money I might as well do a s54..

    Any opinions would be awesome.
    Thanks Gary

Rebuild the motor you have if you're going to spend the money on it. Or find another s50 and swap it in.

+1 for a rebuild. You don't know the condition of the potential new swap motor like you know the motor you own now. Unless you're buying from a known trusted person or friend, stick with what you've got. IMHO.

You're still going to spend about $7-10k if you swap in an S54, and probably $2-3k if you rebuild your current motor. Just find another S50 and drop it in.

many S50's have weak retainers. I would attempt to fix whats in there vs picking another one up that may have the same issue....

Part out the s50. Replace with s52.
