Most are in need of 100% overhaul and engine parts for these are EXPENSIVE. s50b32 are affected even more because of the longer stroke.
m54b30 crankshaft will not limit r3vibility of your engine. You will need headwork and even more aggressive camshafts to maintain breathing at high RPM. Then there is oil pump sprocket bolt issue, but it will not be as severe if you use cast iron m50 block.
Static CR doesn't tell you the whole story regarding petrol octane and detonation. Take into account your camshafts duration and cranking pressure - calculated dynamic CR will give you more info.
