Rotating the motor for clearance, bad idea?

I talked to some one today that said he used an e30 m3 mount on one side of his m50 to rotate it enough to accept the stock brake booster, he also had to shave the fins off of the intake manifold. Is this a bad idea? I know m50s are made to operate at a certain angle but would a couple of degrees make any difference? most roads are off camber anyways.

    would it work?...

maybe, but why change something BMW designed to run a certain way? removing the old booster, modifying the new and reinstalling all took about 45 minutes and cost $62.12, i just did it last night, i really dont see the point of fucking with something like that when its so easy/cheap to do it correctly.

Well BMW also designed e30s to use e30 brake boosters so it goes ether way I guess. You got your 320 booster used right? Does it look alright, most of them seem to be pretty beat up.

If you push the front of the engine to the right that far enough to clear the e30 booster that would alter the center line too much; this will cause some lateral pressure on the Driveshaft and transmission output.

The e21 brakebooster can be had new for like $80... There is no advantage to using the e30 booster. If you go to the 2002 booster you will even gain some volume.

I belive that the 2002 booster needs the same mod as the 320 booster and that is just shorten the rod.

2002 booster has a different end than the E30 or 320i booster, and the E30 one needs to be welded to it...

I thought about this as well but once I was pointed to the oil pickup, my mind changed pretty quickly.
