    M50 starter bolts...

Swapping in a new starter into my 91 318is with a m50tu in it. Starter in the car is not threaded. Have the intake manifold and pretty good access to the starter. What can i use to hold the torx bolts while i get the nut off. Theres very little room between the tranny and frame for anything. What have you guys used? Thanks in advance!!

Drop the rear trans mount use a long extension and a ratchet. Should be able to get at the torx from the back. A wrench will lock in place on the front.

weld a wrench to a socket in some sort of way that it can clear the firewall. Get creative if you don't want to get dirty.

Inverted torx is head, no gearwrench that is torx that I know of.

A 16 point gear wrench would probably work if they don't strip, but it's not advisable per se. Dropping the trans a bit and doing it that way isn't going to be too difficult.
