    m52/260 alignment problems

Hey, fellers got my engine in but the shifter is off centered about an inch or two toward the passenger side!?! Took the intake off to see if anything was interfering.. couldn't find anything. Also tried to flip the shifter carrier upside down, and it just put it in the same place. I'm using green 535 mounts, maybe i put them in wrong? Thanks for the help!!

24v with a g260 will do that. you will need to chop and weld the linkage to remedy it.

ohhhh okay. I always heard of people twisting the selector rod 10 degrees. Never seen anyone mention anything about the carrier, but it makes total sense now ahah.

Most people just torching and twisting the carrier too?

The only thing you need to twist is the selector rod, the carrier is fine at an angle.
Let me know if you need a trans brace (stock one doesn't work) with the combo you are using the trans also sits at a different angle.

Mine lines right up. m52 with g260. I used the trans brace from someone who sells them here (probably gunmetal hahah), and I used e34 m50 cylinder mounts for motor. Only thing I did was twist the selector 10 degrees.

Hmmm, can anyone confirm that the motor mounts are in the right way? I might try flipping them around or something today.

Because even with a shifter carrier twist I think it'll still be off.

                Motor mounts are in wrong.

                Wrong is right.

Dowel pin through stud hole, stud through dowel hole. If you did it right the nut will be very annoying to tighten...

Thank you!!!!! ^^ that must of been why the mounts were so hard to line up.

                      bump.

This is going to be a very stupid question, but which one is the stud hole? One of my mounts are wrong, and i have this same issue

Exactly the same for me. Sits noticeably to the right of the hole in the trans tunnel, but doesn't even come close to touching it when i need to shift.

I too gave up on the e28 mounts and used the e34 ones

All looks totally normal, and I agree with 328ijunkie on the mount install.

FWIW, you can twist the shifter platform when you're using stock rubber mount bushings for both ends. Once you install teflon on the front point of the platform you lose that luxury without modifying the platform.

If you're planning on using oem rubber mounts for the engine and shift platform they will work great for a while, but in my personal situation the passenger mount had started to collapse after a year of driving and my oil pan ended up sitting on the steering rack. Also the rubber shift platform bushings will degrade rapidly and you'll have a loose shifter in no time. I recommend modifying the platform no matter what, you'll reduce the angle on the bushings and they'll hold up much longer.
