There was an E30 in Total BMW a few years back that did this, it looked fucking awesome. He did state in the article though that it was a nightmare.

JJ should get +500 to his post count if he completes this cluster/harness swap project.

        Brave man. Very brave.

I was looking at the E36 cluster. It will be very hard to get the cluster mounted in there, looking good. It's much more rounded than ours... :?

I thought it would be cool just to make a "custom" cluster. Hack apart an e30 one put some e36 or e46 speedo and tachs in. Put a VDO water temp in, and I guess leave the gas one.

If anyone has a pin diagram for the e30 cluster that would help. The ETM had a nice chart showing all the pins and if they were input or output and what they did. The e30 didnt have one.

I second that... it's not worth it..

but go for it.. could be fun, if you have ALOT of patience

                        Sounds like Bill.

Yes I would have the patience to wire the cluster, EWS, OBC and God knows what else into the car, GIVEN ENOUGH TIME. But this is NOT my car and I do have a deadline and right now I'm in a crunch, fighting for an E34 oilpan, brake MC, proper wiring schematics... I'm sure that just as I think I've bought enough parts to remedy the situation, I will need a new oil sump or something major like a crankshaft.

                        Help.

IMO, just becasue it is different makes it worth it. Good luck with it though.

The OBC will be the hard part I think.

The OBC will be the only pointful part I think...

I wonder if that would display the MPG and range correcty?
