    99 s52 > 91 318i, couple questions.

OK so yes I have searched but I'm having a bunch of specific issues and a thread is my quicker option.

First, had my harness done by markert, pretty straight forward but does anyone know where the plug labeled evap (2prong female) with a cover over it goes?

Fyi I have the m50 intake conversion all done up from when it was in my m3.

Second question, the fuel regulator from the m3 that was mounted on the frame rail with the vacuum cylinder in it and the module of some sort incorporated, what plug goes to that and what vac line ? ( the one from the vac port on the underside of m50 intake ? )

Third, the harness has the two wires to the starter and then the large wire from the alternator to the solenoid correct ? .... Which would leave no power getting to the actual starter motor. So I just ran a wire from the stock e30 distribution block to the starter on top of the alternator wire to provide the power to crank. Im assuming I'm either missing that wire from the removal and installation of both motors or im an idiot and I shouldn't have done the new wire .....?

Fourth, does the ecu itself need to be grounded to the chassis ? I know its said to mount it into the same spot of the e30 ecu with moving the clips or so but if I chose to mount it differently do I need to have it grounded ?

Last question, I'm getting fuel pressure to the rail but the injectors aren't firing and the coils aren't eiter . any ideas ?

Any input helps and I apologize if my search skills are lacking.

    1. This plug goes to the evap purge valve. If you deleted it prob needs a resistor to not set cel.

    2. Yes the line goes to the small nipple on the underside of the manifold to the FPR (I am pretty sure thats how mine is setup but im five bud lights in).

    3. I ended up with like 3 wires from my battery to the starter and one from alt to starter. If I remember correctly the stock m20 setup is one from alternator to starter, the starter to battery positive. Sounds like you have it that way now so should be good.

    4. Yes the ECU needs to be grounded at all times and maybe why number 5

    5. Ground your ecu and check grounds from chassis to motor.

Its running losses valve. Did markert do the software? He prob got rid of it. Hopefully he will come verify. Anyway just leave it unconnected.

OK thanks I thought it was left unconnected before on the m3 but forgot. I'll do this all tomorrow and report back thanks again and have a few more bud lights haha

FYI the ECU is grounded through the harness and does not need to be grounded to run. This can be seen by looking at anybody's build that just left the ecu in the glovebox. If that isn't enough, look at the ETM's and you will see that there is not ground at the ECU.

but I don't think stomp test will work seeing as I have the swap correct ?

I know it's the bleeding obvious, but your issue sounds rather like an EWS related thing, what's your setup with that? Do you have power to the coils?

Well I thought markert deletes that ? And I had it off on the m3 but had the sensor still plugged in. I have an AA tune according to the PO for that.

Stomp Test is OBD1 only, OBD2 is scan only. 99% of the time if everything is done right OBD2 cars fire first try, one of the reasons I rant and rave about them so much. Give us a shout in the AM. Im betting its something simple :P

And I checked for spark with just a plug out and grounded but I'll check tomorrow for power, which wire exactly is power on the coil ?
