New Remote Brake Fluid Reservoir Resources

I'm using a 325ix booster with an e34 M5 master cylinder. Right now I have an iX reservoir that is deforming the rubber throttle body elbow way too much. I haven't been able to find a BMW v8 remote reservoir locally.

I found the brake master cylinder grommets and fittings from a Jaguar v12 XJ-S pictured here:

The master cylinder in the Jag is also a Girling and the fittings are a perfect fit. You could use the reservoir bottle from a Jag but I'm going to either get a single reservoir with three outputs or 3 individual bottles. (2 for the brakes, 1 for the clutch).

A couple cars over to the Jag was a Talon - it also had a remote reservoir. For kicks; I removed the fittings and grommets from the master cylinder from it. The grommets / fittings will do the job the only thing that is keeping them from being a perfect fit is that the fittings are alittle too tall and should probably be cut down height wise to fit. The only bad thing about this is that it would remove the ridge on the nipple - I'll be taking pictures later to demonstrate :-)

I'm trying out the ix booster without the adapter plate. This puts the booster smack up against the firewall and leaves enough room for the resivor to fit without hitting anything. I had to cut and weld to pushrod to make this work and also slot the holes in the firewall. The intake manifold appears to be fitting without hitting the booster, but it's very close and I havn't bolted the intake down yet.

Are u talking about the girling expansion tank mentioned in equate's writeup here? linky

I scanned the Jag link, is the jist that I can yank a DSM expansion tank and it'll work?

it seems like you'd have to get another reservior for the clutch slave cylinder, the one in the picture only has two outputs from what i can see.

Has 3 outputs with one raised for the clutch. It's the perfect remote res. Just check it more often since it's a little small.

I think i'm going to modify my stock reservior to work with the new MC. I dont see why I cant just used some 90 degree elbows. I work at home depot so maybe i'll find something that will work.

They're like $110 + here at the dealer... and I was hoping for something with an integrated clutch reservoir.

I actually wound up going with a 2002 reservoir and the jaguar gromets / fittings - pics will follow as soon as I get my camera back. I went with the 2002 reservoir since, like Chandler, it has 3 nipples. So I don't need another reservoir for the clutch.

                    1) Yes
                    2) The jag expansion tank works; but the level sensor's flaky so they retrofit on the DSM reservoir. Might as well get the DSM fittings and get them to work as well.

This is true, unless you go with a 2002 reservoir. I think the manual e23's came with a seperate clutch reservoir if you want to keep things BMW only. Part number: 21521117729 actually these are pretty cheap: $11.27 each according to real oem.

I got mine from a car being parted out.

I'm confused, my brake reservoir has an outlet that goes to the clutch MC. I assume it's not actuated by the booster and is just a straight through from the reservoir to the line to share the same brake fluid. Right? So this part # above, I just run directly to the clutch input cylinder?

Oddly enough, realoem shows such a setup for the e30, but doesn't show part numbers for the separate reservoir and bracket for the clutch fluid.
