S52 Swap Coolant Temp Sensor Re-treading

Ok Im ready to drop the engine in, but just need to figure out what to do about the Coolant Sensor. I don't wish to pay $50 for a sensor, and I have a re-treading dye set so might as well put it to use. Only question is, what is the exact size? I dont want to take the risk or stripping or damaging the head tread hole.

Anyone tried this yet with successful results?

12x1.5. I took my time with a file and shaved it down until the dye caught on.

Thanks fellas. I actually saw that post few months ago and asked the OP. He said he wasn't sure exactly which die he used, but 12x1.5 seems to be the one.

I have another question, but dont really want to start a new thread.

So i have a brand new m20 slave cylinder and a e36 m3 slave with 70k miles stock. Used with s52 and zf. Which would you say is better for the swap purpose?

I'm under the impression that you can't use the M20 G260 slave with the ZF320, so I'd say use the 70k old ZF slave.

But now that I think about it, maybe the early eta G260 slaves would work because of the deeper bellhousing, but I have no idea if they really will.

I usually buy a new slave when doing swaps. They are cheap enough. Get what ever one matches the trans.
