m50 /s50 no fuel no spark

the large black starter wire running from the distribution lock to the starter that was originally used for m20 , do you keep that and run it to the starter ,
or can you get rid of it since there is a red large wire running through the harness that goes to the starter , on the starter side there is a large red wire and small red wire that i believe goes to the e36 fuse box??
    any input
OKAY SO I GOT THE CAR TO CRANK, now i have no fuel and no spark ? any idea
i jumped the fuel pump so i know it works
    need some input

would a low battery cause the starter to just click then to properly engage

Might be a long shot, but when I did my S52 swap I had the same crank no start, turned out my ecu needed to be flashed, plugged it back in and fired right up.
