May sound like a dumb question, but this has been my first custom motor swap and I wanted to make sure everything is right. My E30 has the battery under the hood. The E36 I pulled my motor and trans from had the battery in the trunk. Am I fine just to bypass the block and run a red cable from the starter to the battery with the battery connection on it, or is there an additional purpose to the block aside from a jumping point? I have access to tons of E36 parts cars and found a 318i with the battery under the hood. Was going to pull the cable from that to run on my swap.

Bypassing power distribution block

There are atleast two other small power wires that feed the harness that need to be hooked up. I solved this by using an aftermarket power distribution block screwed down to the battery tray. I run main battery cable to it an then everything gets power from there. Makes nice clean install. Mine is a vert too and i kept the battery under the hood.
