Nah I was actually referring to Mtriple's car, which pretty much has everything except a 5 lug swap. I believe he still has the stock brakes and four lug setup. I guess my post just came out wrong.
NO RRY?
Actually Mtriple's car had/has a BBK, the car is for sale right now in the FS section. Whoever wants one of the cleanest swapped cars ever I suggest buying it, for the money you get a LOT of car. Go check it out. (No relation, I just dig the car.)
Yeah, Mtriple's car is sick! He put in a lot of time and money into that car, a lot more than $15,000 worth! It's seriously a bargain for what you get. Custom cage, a clutch/flywheel setup worth around $900, and lots of racing equipment.
Yeah it has 4x100 right now, as discussed in the FS thread.
Its just a matter of how motivated the seller is. Most of the guys who waste money on an S50 swap arent really in the position to need to sell the car.

I hope Bob (Mtriple) got his little problem figured out before he sold it. Last I heard, when I was out there last year with Blunt and a few others, was that both he and Blunt were having some issues with their cars. Blunt has a VANOS thing, and I don't know exactly what Bob's problem was, but both cars were only doing 225-230rwhp, and they should both be damned near 245-250rwhp. But I'm sure he got it fixed before he sold it, so it may be a moot point.
Any CELs or codes? With Schricks, 24#, 3.5 HFM, 240rwhp is pretty much normal. Maybe blunt was getting "Vanos Mechanically Stuck"? When putting everything back together I guess there's a step where you have to check the VANOS advance to meet a minimum advance spec (8.3 or 8.4mm, I think)...
Mtriple installed a new Vanos unit, so it can't be a failing or failed solenoid. Well, whomever picks up the car can figure it out, because they ought to have the financial wherewithall to deal with such a problem should it exist.

i have been so busy i havent had time to check it out. we did check the vanos upon installation but who knows??
bob sold his and divulged the problem to the seller beforehand. even the way it is bobs car is a monster. id love to find an additional 20 or 30 hp
im still waiting for trevor to invite me out so i can humiliate him in his own car.
but i think his track days are over now that millers tugging the leash
I think there's more knowledge about timing Schricks on bimmerforums. Anyway, it seems that most of the problem comes from installing the cams using just the cam locking tool so that the lobes face each other at TDC.
Someone hooked up a S5x motor to the BMW GT1 computer and found that the intake cam was at 0-2 deg at idle, whereas the spec at idle should have been -5 to -15 degrees.
So the fix was to bring cylinder 1 to TDC, block the cams, loosen the intake cam sprocket and withdraw the VANOS plunger less than a third of its travel. This had the effect of retarding the intake cam within spec.

Come on out. The house is nearing completion, and I even have a room just for you. I keep the cat's litter box in said room, so you'll feel right at home. The only humiliation that will come from our get-together will be experienced by you. The fact that my grocery-getter will blow the doors off of the orange car will cause tears of shame to squeeze past those coke-bottle bottomed glasses of yours. Eat a 4 door dick.
