    S52 Exhaust Manifold Flange.

Hi got a S52 in a 1990 325is running but she needs an exhaust now.

I have a friend who can do the welding but I need to gather up some parts...I need flanges to weld on the downpipe to mate up to the existing ones on the S52 stock manifolds.

Does anyone know what size they exactly are and where to get some? I tried measuring in the car and it seemed to be 1.75 ID and 2 7/8 from bolt to bolt. Can't find anything online either...

    Any help appreciated.

    Cheers.

I couldn't find any online either. Even at ColumbiaRiverMandrel. I just made my own out of a steel plate. I can try to find my template w/measurements when I get home.

Be careful if you are printing this and using as a stencil (if you end up making your own flanges). You might need to resize the photo so that the dimensions are true when printed.

Hope this is of some help.

I'm getting close to setting up my exhaust as well. s52 with stock headers.
are you going to go with dual piping and xpipe?
what's your setup gonna be like?
            thanks

Mine is a Y-Pipe right after the headers and I have 2.5" mild steel piping all the way with a Magnaflow cat, Borla Muffler, and a cheap ebay rear muffler for now. This is on an M50 which I will be going turbo next spring so I did single piping for easier welding for the temporary exhaust.

If I were S52 naturally aspirated, I would go dual stainless piping with an x-pipe up front. You could just find a used 96-99 M3 mid pipe and have it modified to correctly fit the E30. From what I've seen, the stock M3 exhaust was pretty well tuned from factory.

I cut off the flange and welded a V-band on. Never will I have to deal with the stuck bolts and frustration of rust.

your advice on NA S52 is exactly the idea I wanted to go with. 2.5 all the way I suppose. just gotta find the cats and resonator from 96-99 m3.
                  thanks.
