Firewall wire harness grommet, what are you using on your 24v swap?

Hi Guys, what are you using for a grommet on the firewall where the wiring harness goes threw? Did you re-use the e30 one? Any tips on removal an installation? Im not sure it will fit over the ecu connector to come off, and back on. Has anyone waffleswaffleswaffles this? I suppose I could cut a slit in the stock grommet so its bigger. But worried about water getting in.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Jay

I have never had any water get in through that hole. I just cut some rubber tubing in half, and covered the edge of the firewall hole.

I cut an e30 one down the center and put it around the e36 harness. Works perfect. No water.

New grommets are supple, keep the dust and bugs out and add just a touch of noise suppression.

If you are working on the harness just install new ones. I did it on my swap and installed a new elephant trunk as well.

I used the squarish one that came on the E36 harness. I squared up the hole in the firewall to make it fit and painted the cut edges.

E30 one works perfect if you can chop it off your original harness.

+1 to E30 one cut off an old harness.

+1 to E30 grommet. I also have the plastic firewall harness covers and that adds some extra coverage
