I've been considering trying this out. It sounds like a good idea to me, and I think, maybe the E30 can pull it off. It should weigh less than our AC components. so what do you think? would you try it? has it ever been done???

I'd get one of those cheap cigarette lighter fans and call it good.

WTF is it? Also, A/C is not very hard or expensive to fix. It amazes me that 90% of e30 drivers either refuse to fix it or just throw it in the garbage :???:

@Coupelx, yes that would be great and original but I'm thinking of something different. keeping the weight off the car and pulley off the motor. not that it makes much of a difference. Just something new.
@CorvallisBmw, it is an Auto cooler, works the same as a swamp cooler, uses meshed up wood like material that gets soaked with water and air compressing through a bit making cooler humid air into your car. may not be exactly the way it works just the idea.

I am of the same mindset. Hell even my twin turbo fox moostang had AC. no power steering because racecar but damn right it had AC.

It adds a high amount of overall enjoyment to the car for me. Gotta stay comfy!

Also those "swamp coolers" dont work if you live in a humid climate.

People survived thousands of years before AC was invented. Clearly AC is unnecessary.

Swamp coolers work by using the evaporation of water to cool the air around it. When water (or anything for that matter) evaporates, it takes energy to do so (phase change). The energy has to come from somewhere and it comes from the air cooling around the water. The problem is, in high humidity, you get less evaporation and therefor less cooling.
