Which windage tray with s52? e34, e36 does it matter? Solved

So I bought a swap set up off eBay with dipstick, tube, pan, and windage tray (is that what they are called?). So after I broke off the old pick up tube support I put on the windage tray from the e34. I assumed I needed the new tray to fit the new pan but they are basically the same profile just slightly different design. I am guessing it doesn't matter but I'm second guessing myself now since I can't seem to find anything anywhere regarding.

    Thanks.

I would run the windage tray for the crank you're running. I've heard of a few people having the s52 crank hit the pan-mounted windage tray because of the longer stroke.

Not sure if you're talking about the pan mounted one or not, but I doubt the block mounted M50 tray clears the S52 crank either.

Solved. Looks like I'll be pulling the pan back off:

I've been running the pan mounted e34 tray since day one on my s52 swap without any issues, I've currently got the motor apart again for new rings and bearings and I can snap some pictures of all the pieces tomorrow.

My pan is the one that doesn't have it built in. It's a pan and a block mounted tray. But yeah, that thread I linked showed exactly the tray I used that I shouldn't have.
