Suggestions on coilpacks melting and no start?

So I recently got my m50b25nv running after replacing the crank senso (very badly I must say), It idles rough and I thought maybe one of my cams were out of time but I triple checked the motor when putting it together, Anyway after running badly I replaced all of the coil packs and noticed the ground straps that are usually on there were non existent which led me to believe there was too much resistance. So I got some random wire and grounded all of them to no avail of making it run better. Then the car just decided to not run at all and will not start for the past few days. Then one of the coilpacks started bubbling out and melting after trying to spark it. Also the spark is orange not blue. Does anyone think the grounds I'm running aren't big enough? Or some other underlying issue? I'm sort of at a loss any help is appreciated

Sounds like you maybe getting power to them all the tine. Check power. Make sure they arent energized with key off.

I'll definitely check that out today thanks for the suggestion!

Maybe try getting the correct ground wire

A ground wire is a ground wire. You have something else going on. My guess would be that it's a DME issue.

Well according to a few others the coils must be grounded 1-3 and 4-6 correctly through the valve cover or they wont be grounded right and start running back to the dme. Which it did and toasted my computer so I'm on the hunt for a new one. Also I think I located a short through the 4th coil pack so I'm trying to figure out how to deal with that

My point was you can use any wire to ground the coils. And grounding all of them is the best possible scenario. Typically, the coils are bridged/grounded together with metal brackets and then the straps ground the two groups of coils. If the coils weren't grounded, that may have damaged the DME which then, in turn, damaged the new coils you installed.

Ah okay, I didn't know if I needed a certain gauge wire or something because I had them all looped together but it didn't seem to work. I think I have a short somewhere in my harness or something is either missing a ground or grounded that shouldn't because it seems like coil 4 is the only one getting hot even when I switch it out.
