Hey r3v, had a few questions that I haven't been able to find answers for on the form. Perhaps someone else might have answers. If anyone has a link I could follow that would work as well.
So I just had my OBDII M52b28+zf320 swap done in my '85 325e. All is well except for a few minor bothers.
1. Can I directly swap a late model cluster into my car with a 7k tach? I know the early model cars had the "code plug" in the rear of the tach vs. on the front right side on most '86+ cars. Reason I ask is due to the circuit for the charging system that goes through the cluster on the early cars. Don't want to end up with a charging system fault.
2. With the zf320 trans in the car I have to hold the shifter with force in 5th gear. I am using the e36 328is shift carrier that came with the engine I bought. I do travel on highways frequently making it rather uncomfortable to drive. Kinda seems as the shifter is favoring the right side. Any ideas what could be causing this?
3. Probably the most concerning: Occasionally, when putting in the clutch while coming to a stop the car will cut off. I have noticed that every 10 stops or so when I push the clutch in to coast to a stop the car will just die. There are no noises, shakes, just seems to die. New MAF and two new o2 sensors. Happens less frequently, but it still happens.
If anyone could point me in the right direction or could shed some insight on these minor annoyances I would be extremely thankful. Thanks in advance, r3v!
