S52 swap questions, vacuum routing, harness connections

I'm working on my obd2 s52 swap and have a few questions.

First, what is this? And how do I route it? I don't know what it's called so I'm not sure what to search.

It's a bracket and connector connected to a metal line that runs around the engine.

Next is part of the wiring harness. From left to right there is connector that goes to transmission.

Then there is another connector I don't know where goes.

Then a piece of vacuum that is hard plastic and about two feet long.

    Lastly two four pin connectors.

Any help on where they go to or what they are called would be great.

The sensor thing in first pic is called the vacuum control valve ifI'm not mistaken. I think they also call it a exhaust vacuum solenoid. I'm guessing it creates the vacuum that is needed to relieve pressure off the crankcase? I have a ccv set up on mine. Maybe that ones electric? I just put in a ccv valve on my swap but I'm def no professional. Hope this helps a little!

1 is all Secondary Air Pump shit. Looks like you have aftermarket headers, so I doubt you're retaining the pump. You can turn it off with an ECU flash and delete all the shit, or just delete the valve/lines/pump and leave the electronics intact.

I think some of your middle pics are broken.

      Last pic:
Those two really long, round 4 pin connectors are the post-cat o2 sensor connectors.
That vacuum line should be the running losses valve/fuel pressure regulator vac source for down under the E36 frame rail.
One of those two pin connectors goes there as well, may throw a DTC CEL if it's not flashed out.
Other two pin connector might be reverse switch if it's long as the others? (Edit: you already know this anyway lol)

        Thanks for your reply Northern.

A few follow up questions. I've done a lot more reading, and understand it a little better now. I had the ews, secondary air, and secondary o2 sensors removed from the ecu.

1.) Does that mean I can just remove the vacuum and electrical lines that were a part of the system? And just plug any vacuum that would have connected to it?

2.) Since rear o2's were deleted can I just remove those lines from the harness?

3.) Reverse light just needs to be wired up to the connector that comes up through the shift boot area correct? I can cut and splice it on there?

        Thanks for your help.

          1. Yes, but for the SAP electrical, I would either remove all or none. I have heard stories of people's cars burning from half assedly removing the SAP wiring, probably from leaving a live wire loose in the harness somewhere. Before my harness went on, it was one of the things I amputated from the harness.

          2. Yes.

          3. Yes, the wiring under the shift boot is what the e30 uses, if you have the ZF, you need so splice the connector from the E36 harness onto the shiftboot-trans mini harness.

The SAP electrical wasn't too bad to remove. If it went through a section of wrap, I'd just give the same colour wires a tug on the other end of it until I found the right one, then snipped and pulled it through.

I think most, if not all of these emissions bits have both a wire that ties into a big switched +12v splice in the harness, and one that ties into a big ground splice. I trimmed the wires back to those, then re-heat shrunk them, and snipped at ECU/any other spots.

Vacuum stuff came off easily as well. I pulled the hard line that runs across the front of the engine and everything. Not sure where the vacuum that goes to the remote running losses valve/fpr, as I deleted that to run an OBD1 rail because I'm lazy.

Alright, awesome. I remove all that jib and I think I'm good there.

My next concern is the coolant sensor. I have a brown top threaded into the head to go to the tach, but I don't know how that gets wired into the tach.

the other thing is the temp sensor for the ECU, that's just the standard sensor and connector on the s52 right?

Tach will controlled by the three wire plug in glove box. Just extend the wire as needed

Plug looks like this. You want the black wire from it.

So, clip the wire, spice it into a connector for the brown top plug and bam, I'm done?

For the temp sender, I left the two wires for the ECU temp sender in the harness, snipped and pulled one of the others, and snipped/crimped the brown top connector on the other.

My car is a '90, so I ran that cluster temp wire to pin 4 of C101 where the cluster temp runs.

Not sure what the two pin brown connector was from, left the extra wire inside the heat shrink as some half assed attempt at strain relief.

I think I threw some tape where it Y's after this pic, but it turned out decently.
