Quick M50 tensioner question

I just installed one of these the other day. There seemed to be steel insert inside that alloy frame, where tensioner itself slides in&out. I don't know if it's possible to remove (&replace) it without breaking te part, though.

that's kind of what i figured, looking at pictures of how the primary tensioner is constructed. thanks
