That's about the cheapest way to go about increasing displacement and output. Don't go down the road of building a bottom end up. That ends up costing a lot more money than most people will anticipate.

Well said. Also, the 2.8 bottomend is like a 'baby 3.0' in that you're only running 2mm less bore and stroke. Both are relatively square (86x85.8 vs 84x84).
3.0's and 3.2's definately make the most power, and the kick in the ass you get at lower revs will depend on how many CC's you can afford
