    S52 swap issue

Working on a friend's e30. Swapped from a m50 to a s52. No spark will crank but doesn't fire. Any ideas?

Swap to obd2 with the S52?

EWS flashed? Does the ECU have power? CPS working/connected?

Little backstory. The e30 had the m50 in it. I got ahold of a 94 318 m3 clone with the s52 swap. I'm swapping the motors between them. The s52 is converted to obd1. I don't think it would be a ews issue because there was no battery in the key for the chip. Still started and ran completely fine. And I've tried the ecu from both. I know I have power to the fuel pump and main relay. What would I need to check for power to the ecu. I also know I have 12v to everything that is on the terminal on the passenger side.

Can you run a stomp test? That is an easy way to tell you if you have power to the ECU (assuming the check engine light was wired).

Are you sure that the crank position sensor and cam sensor are plugged in right way around. In obd1 you can plug cam sensor to crank senor wire and vice versa because those share the same connectors. And if you do so, the car won't start. Very common mistake. In obd2 the connectors are different so that mistake can't happen.
