    zf320 engagement too low

zf320 with m20 smf and clutch using stock 325i TOB, 328i clutch slave, new brass clutch pivot pin, and new ecs stainless steel clutch line.

I just got my driveshaft in and bled the clutch system using the system where you unbolt the slave and tip the bleeder screw up to the top and the clutch engagement is just like an inch or 2 off the floor.

just need to bleed some more? air in the clutch master cylinder?
should i have used the the euro 323i throw out bearing? could i just shim up the pivot pin a few millimeters and use and adjustable slave cylinder rod like this one?

do yall just let it be and live with the low engagement point? I kinda want a stock-isher feel to the pedal.

Does the zf320 gearbox usually use dual mass flywheel?

yes it normally does. it is the trans that came from a 97 328i.

I don't have any experience with your exact setup, but i had issues putting a getrag 260 that usually used a dual mass with a single mass flywheel. Exact same issue as you in that the clutch throwout didnt reach far enough and was causing a very low engagement. If the 323i bearing and carrier is longer that might be your solution. although i have also heard of people modifying the pin on the clutch slave cylinder to get the extra reach.

what did you do about it?

i don't really want to pull the trans out

well my project was a friggen disaster, involving stuffed gearboxes and stuffed dual mass flywheels. the box that suited a dual mass flywheel was stuffed, so i got another gbox that suited a single mass flywheel as well as a single mass flywheel and a new clutch. think i removed and fitted various gboxes 5 or 6 times.

Essentially I threw money and effort at it to solve the problem:P

Hopefully someone chimes in who has your issue, i think welding a longer pin on the slave cylinder is the go.

anyone know how much longer i would need to make the slave rod?

the rogue one goes 5mm longer but that only extends the TOB 2.5mm longer since it sits at the middle of the clutch fork but i guess i could always try it and thread another piece of metal to go longer if i needed it

you need the 323 throwout bearing.

Crap. I really don't want to pull the trans.

I saw at least 5 threads saying that it wasn't needed.
Which is why I didn't use one, well that and the fact that it is stupid expensive compared to the other TOBs
