Quick wiring harness question - M50 (OBD1) to early c101

My e30 was originally an M10 car ('85) and I swapped it to M42 years ago.

Anyhow, as I put the M50 wiring harness together, I have one odd-wire out that I'm not sure of. On the M50 harness there is a small black-with-green stripe wire that is listed in most places as "starter relay." Now, my M42 nor my M10 setup apparently used this wire, and there's no wire to run it to on the old square C101. Just the main starter wire (blk/yel).

So, do i need to hook this up to something?

Is it the signal to the unloader relay(s)? It would come off
the 'hot' side of the starter motor if it was...

now, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves

Not sure. I just checked my prior swap harness (for M42, which also has that wire) and found that I just dummied it off and didn't use it at all. So I guess it's something needed on the chassis side of later cars vice early ones like mine, or something. The starter worked fine without it (M20 starter with M20 FW in G240, for what it's worth).

I'm going to leave a pigtail on the loom just in case.

Just to follow up, yes it's for the unloader relay. So, doesn't really need to be hooked up since this car has almost no OEM power accessories lol...
