    Click Click Click...Problem.

So everything is hooked up for a dry fire and it will not crank. All I am getting is a click click sound. Sounds like it is coming from the starter. The battery is new and I tested the current.. it's good. WTF?

    Any Ideas guys? TIA

check the battery isolation block, it was loose and i wasnt' getting enough voltage to the starter. and try cranking the engine by hand and see if it spins freely i too had that problem

if all your connections are tight and you're still just getting the clicking then you might have a bad starter.

This is of course assuming that your battery is strong and your wiring is correct.

just give your starter a good wack with a rubber mallet, the solenoid might not be engaging all the way and theres nothing like a good bit of percussive maintenance to fix a sticky solenoid

I re-mounted the block and gave the starter and solenoid a good whack. Still clicking. I'll grab another starter on Monday I guess and see what happens..

Thanks for the help guys. Let me know if you guys have any other suggestions.

Yeah, did you remember to wire up the starter directly to the battery?? I forgot that and all that happened was the 12v solenoid clicking...

What do you mean directly? This is how I have it..

battery -> battery cable -> 12v iso block under hood-> starter cable to starter

The problem is that having the big power wire not hooked to the starter properly will give the same symptoms as a bad solenoid.

I think we need to verify voltage at the starter solenoid before we tear into anything OR score a new starter. I suppose my girlish hands will come in handy for that on Sunday.

So yeah, she fired up today.

                    Flippin sweet.

PS. The only little snag we hit trying to start it was that the fuel pump relay had gone bad, so we had to swap it with one off another harness. Swaped that over and she fired right up.
