Radiator Fan Shroud

anyone has modified or use any oem part for the fan shroud

i notice noboy has any of the fan shroud that would make the engine bay temp a little lower( theory) and neat

thinking of doing this with the normal shroud and maybe cutting it up to fit it in

any ideas, pictures??

Your theory is correct and very true, the fan shroud helps greatly with directing the air over the radiator, the air goes everywhere else but the radiator without a fan shroud.

But...

Unless are you experiencing overheating problems as a result of not having a fan shroud, don't bother.

But if you really want to try, my understanding is that you can't use an OEM fan shroud because it's too thick so the fans of the blade hit it or what? If this is the case, you can do what I did and shave down the fan shroud until nothing hits anymore.

Of course, if it's straight up clearance problems, then you'll need to shave down a lot more. Go at it, it's just plastic. Better to have a little of one than to not have one at all anyway.

that was the idea i was gonna use, to shave off what is extra and keep it as close and tight as possible

but would need abit more help, a picture would rally help, and which shroud to use, the m20 or m50?

there's also the possibility that it may fly off if not secured properly, the aim is to make it as stock as possible

I don't even have room for a fan much less a shroud, is anyone on the forums running a belt driven fan?

Same here I have no room for a auxilary fan. Just using the electric one that's mounted in the front of the radiator.

Is any body else setup like this???

I use the stock fan. I put shims between the fan and the viscus clutch to move the fan away fro the radiator.
It is still very close and my rediator is pretty thin (it as round tubes instead of the normal flat coolant passeges).
I also want to use a shroud, but the problem isn't the thickness, with the M50 leaning farther, the fan is no longer in the center of the radiator, it is offset and doesn't line up with the opening in the original shroud.
I'm thinking about making anew shroud from fiberglass, but probably won't do anything about it before next summer.
