I like to hear this praise for the 260. However, I'm still confused about the tranny mount. Some people are talking about building custom mounts, but Trent and others have used bmw parts. Can we get some pics/ descriptions of the 260 mounts in use.
thanks, Andy

Happens on my e46 even when warm. Pretty common.one more reason to stick with the getrag 260. anyone having this issue with their ZF (shifter sticks on 5th when cold)?

Anyone who moneyshifts their car has only themselves to blame. And maybe their trans mounts if they have the stock e36 ones, which do suck. But don't even try to point a finger at the trans.
Be careful when you shift.Comment

Looks like I'll keep my 260. It's old though. Before I commit to the 260 I have, is there a way to make sure it's in tip top shape while it's out of the car? Something like input shaft wobble tolerance, check the gears and syncros, etc?
I'm a little intimidated about opening the tranny, never done anything with one, but thought there might be a fairly easy way to test if it's in good order.Comment

2+ years, 217 rwhp, many trips down the 1320 on the stock 260 tranny. Cut and rotated the shift rod so the shifter is back in place.
I was originally skeptical that the transmission would last very long but as is often the case, I was wrong. It hasn't given me any problems at all.Comment

i went with the zf, fucking sucks. It feels like shit but its nice to be able to lock the motor in tdc. The next time i pull my motor, a 260 will bolt back on.Comment

I went with the ZF as I like the smoother shifts and the lesser hassle of mounting it. It also happened to come with my s50 so I didn't have to buy one.Comment

the zf is fine...only problem i had was with a crappy shifter! after replacing that i've been in love with itCheck out Undr8d Empire on Facebook: www.facebook.com/Undr8dEmpireLlc
