Ready for swap have some questions

Hey, I am ready for an s52 swap. I have a complete 97 m3 for parts.
First- what all should/could I keep from my 89 325is or m3 for the swap?
will I be able to use the shifter from my car with the new tranny?
I need everything else that my car and the m3 will not have, where is the best place to get the parts?

you're going to need a lot of obd1 parts if you're going that route. you can't really use much off the 97. bimmerforums is a good place to find used parts, just watch out for squidly buyers.

this link has a pretty good description with what's needed to swap over to obd1, with the exception of the temp sensor info, which is specific to the e36.

pretty much the mounting kit, and you have to convert to obdI, they have a kit also . brake booster is a must for intake manifold clearence. read up on this site there is to much info. i would suggest to find these parts yourself because they do change a pretty penny. also if you dont like wiring go with the tree house racing wiring adapter for plug and play for your chassis. theree is alot more than this im just giving a breif answer

Actually because he has the complete 97, doing the complete swap in OBD-II wouldn't be a problem. There's a guy on this board who has done it already, I think his name is jrez?

If I had all the parts available, I wouldn't bother converting to OBD1.

Any body have any info on the swap keeping obdII? Is it worth doing the swap this way since I have the whole car?
