    wiring. auto vs. 5speed?

ok so i found a motor with 170,000kms from an automatic, i was wondering what do you have to do with the wiring harness or if anything at all?. also can i use the ecu that comes with it?. im getting the 5speed tranny with flywheel and it comes with a sachs stg.3 clutch. pretty much what im asking is can you use the wiring from the auto when i put the 5 speed on, because ive noticed on the 5 speeds there is that little connector on the passenger side of the transmission?.
    thanks

EDIT: ahhh never mind I didn't see this was in the m50 swap forum... I was in e30/m20 land when I wrote that...

5 Speed swaps are fairly well documented on here, you may want to do a search. You'll need a 5 speed drive shaft, pedal box, you'll need to do some basic wiring around the neutral start switch, etc...

Your engine harness will work. A assume the connector you are talking about is the reverse light switch. You will plug it into the 5 speed switch.
You don't usually need to change pedal boxes.

The reverse light switch on the e36 is in the engine harness... you'll cut this off. You connect your e30 reverse light wiring to to the manual transmission's switch. There is also a connector for the auto on the e36 auto motor harness. Cut it off or let it hang. You can also cut off or leave the TCU connector on the harness.

Yes you can use the auto ecu.

You are going to hook up the reverse light switch exactly like it is now. You are not going to use the reverse light switch from the new motor harness.
