My E34 oil pan doesn't fit... have any of you ever had to modify yours?

    WillisE30 - you did **sort of** make a dig, I'd prolly take it nearly the same D did, but at the same time you did slam him pretty hard back, D.

    You guys are both too smart to act this way, I've talked to both of you and I wouldn't believe either of you talking like this if I didn't see it myself.

    So just make nice nice with each other, because you both are acting like doo-doo heads.

    Or you can make fun of me, Lord knows there's plenty of reasons to.

    Just make nice nice already.

      Here's how my oil pan looked (on top). It cam without that "built-in" windage tray. So if you already have a windage tray on your motor, just cut the one out of your pan.

            because its easier to just take out the other bolted in tray then dealing with cutting the other tray

                  Windage tray problem

                  Lies in the s52 he is putting that e34 pan on which has the m50 windage tray on it the problem comes from different stroke on the s52 vs m50 what was interfering with the tray was the crankshaft simply because the it has so much longer stroke the crank is much bigger in diameter.If i was you I would definitely turn that motor by hand and check that there is no interference while it is rotated.

                          I have the s52 crankshaft in my m50 block and i had the same problem you mentioned with the e34 oil pan windage tray,It did fit just fine with the m50 crank no trimming or nothing just remove the e36 tray if your motor is out of e36.if it is false ok.( even though i did have the interference), i am not arguing with you guys just wanted to share my knowledge from my own experience.That's all.And by the way its not the pan it's the windage tray you guys are hacking up that i am talking about. And the s50 stroke is shorter then the s52 so it might just work without trimming nothing.

                            All I'm saying is that where we all find clearance problems is in static parts, not in rotation. It **might** have been the boltheads for the bearing caps, IDK - but it was a static issue, nothing in rotation involving the counterweights on the crank, the bearing caps of either the rods or the crank, and in all reality this has been taken further than it needs to. A little zip zip with a die grinder or even a basic Dremel and it's a done deal.

                            You're going to scare people if you leave this up & let people think they have windage tray issues with moving parts. People get spooked enough without bad info here.

                                You're an idiot for 2 reasons. Here's why:

                                1.)Look at where people (D in this case, but I had to as well) are grinding - nowhere near rotating principle or countermass parts, otherwise we'd all be grinding in the middle.

                                2.)There's no shame in being wrong - I am everyday. Simple thing that sets us apart is I don't defend my wrongness, I just own it & move on. You haven't chosen to do this so far.

                                I actually do hope a mod sees what kind of tool you are & does ban you, but I'm not the type to run & tell. I call people a tool & then they know where they stand with me. You're a tool.
