    Questions on E36 chassis wiring

Went to the junkyard today to snip some E36 chassis side engine harness connectors and notices that it has two. I am planning on making my own 24v conversion adapter and am wondering why the E36 has 2 plugs on the chassis side. Sorry if this post is confusing. Any info would be appreciated.

when i went to get the plugs from the e36 there was the diagnostics plug and then there was two plugs next to the fuse box, possibly for the autotranny. I just went ahead and took the one with the most pins in it.

I've got my wire harness layed out on a table right now and I'm trying to identify all of the plugs, working through it slowly. I think I'm going to take a hi-res photo of it all sprawled out, and try and identify what I can. The rest I'll ask for help on, but it would be a usefull tool for others later. I'll try and do that tonight or early next week.

was it a auto tranny?? if it was then it was the connector for the transmission, they look the same.

                      Weird.

Oh well. You don't really need the e36 connector anyway. The new hotness is putting the M20 motor plug straight on the e36 harness.

I honestly did not even pay attention to what tranny either car had, but that makes sense because they do look the same, just less pins. I grabbed all of them anyway so no biggie.

Matt, I prefer a plug and play adapter that way my engine harness stays intact and my chassis harness stays intact. No modifications to either. :)

Now to find the wiring chart for this adapter, I know it's gotta be here somewhere on this damn site, lol.
