im getting around 260 for about 11 gallons of fuel.
so thats around 23.5mpg mixed driving. 27mpg if mostly highway.
but i think i lose .5mpg with my snowboard attachment for the roof rack...
m50 non vanos, 3.73 diff.
dinan chip.
ebay headers
crap exhaust with hollow muffler
i dont know how you are getting 360/tank tonytony.
im like the most calm/slow driver ever and i get only 260, wtf?
hoping to do the electric fan, and some underdrive pulleys. maybe thatll help.
but i think i need to do a tune up. i want to be getting 360/tank!

It could have a lot to do with your diff ratio. This is kind of apples to oranges, but it should get the point accross. I was running a 3.46 in my 325es for the past few years......I worked close to home and it was a blast around town. I usually got around 23-24 MPG with mixed driving. Last summer I changed jobs (now I commute 600 miles per week), and the 325es has been designated the commuter car. The RPMs were WAY to high for highway cruising so I swapped the differential over to an early ETA ratio of 2.79, and now I reliably get 28-30 mpg during mixed driving. It dropped my RPMs by right around 800 RPM for any given gear/speed.
It doesn't seem like much, but considering the 5-6 MPG difference and lets say 14 gallons of gas......thats 70-84 extra miles per tank. Now if you figure in a more efficiant M50 versus a 220k mile worn out ETA motor......I think you could easily get there by dropping your diff ratio a little bit.
so e30s have a 14 gallon tank? wow.
my needle gets really close to the R at around 11 gallons, so thats when i usually fill up. i guess i could get around 70 more miles out of the tank if i take it all the way up to 14 gallons.
we need to know how many gallons of fuel people use up as well to figure out the mpg numbers. that is more reliable than how many miles a tank, cuz people fill up at different points.
