    318is => e36 m50 wiring

    I know there are tons of threads out there about the wiring but I'm having a hard time finding anything on the 318is to m50. I have a 94' e36 vanos m50 and a 91' 318is car that its going in.

    Also my engine was off an auto e36 and the harness has two plugs like the dme. One is for the dme but what is the other for?

        Get ETMs for your car and your motor. Between them and the two bentley's it's pretty easy to figure out. Match wire colors and sizes, rather than pin locations in the C101/X20 connector.

          I did the same swap.

          91' m42 using a 95' m50 from an auto

          I can dig up the diagrams if you like.
          I used a combo of akg's and addissimos diagrams

                  I have the chassis side completed for my '91 318is. I'll post it on Monday after I get the euro 3.2 in the car.

                            This diagram should be sufficient. I am wiring up my 318is tonight and this is the final config that I am going to use.

                            The wire colors were taken directly from the C101 and x20 connectors that I have. The E36 functions were derived from Mike B's diagram, which mirrored my own diagram at home (which I don't have handy right now). The E30 functions were derived from the ETM.

                            C101 Pin 8 (white) is the only wire I couldn't find the function to. The C101 wires labeled 325i are the ones that are the same colors as the late model 325i and were assumed to perform the same function. This was out of necessity, as the ETM for the 318is isn't that helpful, or at least the copy I had wasn't very helpful in that regard.
