    Buy the engine complete to save money.

    I'm basically building mine from scratch, all parts bought separately, and taking everything to the next level. I'm at $10.5k so far.

        95 s50 - $2650 almost complete
        TB + MAF - $80
        mpower cover - $80
        mounting arms- $20
        e34 oil pan - $130
        all gaskets/pulleys/water pump/hoses/thermo - $600
        racing m20 clutch - $350
        stock m20 flywheel - $80
        ebay SS headers - $220
        Turner EWS delete chip - $300
        e36 m3 3.0turns rack + hoses- $400
        e30 IX booster - $120

        taking head off next week and sending to machine shop for new valve guides, doesnt need em, but im doing all the preventative maintanance. prolly run me a few hundred. having a mechanic do all the motor work on the s50 basically refreshing EVERYTHING. im looking at about $1500 in labor.

        so basically, im looking at about $6500 rite now for my swap...:( depressing.

                I don't even want to start adding up my Euro 3.2 swap, the engine alone was $6k. Factory 321hp NA doesn't come cheap.

                I learned this a long time ago owning Porsches, reciepts are for the next owner. :)

                  agreed. i had a spread sheet, but it was too depressing. i deleted it off my computer. my binder is really thick. WELL into the 5 digit range.

                        Nope. 1-5 are the same gearing as the ZF, and I didn't think I'd be hitting 6th gear at the track anyway.

                          Yeah, I guess there's not much reason to run a 6 speed, because of the S50's fairly broad torque curve. No need to keep the engine speed too too high.

                                yes, as am I. I am pretty proud of my m50 though. I like the 260 trans because of the overdriven 5th (i run a 3.25lsd). Yes, i know that the zf 250 was 1:1 and thats where the m50 should be with a 3.15 or 3.23 diff. But im around 2500 rpm at 75. I like reving low for some reason, damn eta. but its good on the highway.

                                I was about even with an e36 m3 from 75 til we shut down around 115. I cant confirm it was an s50 or 52. hopped up e46 put about 7 cars on me from 80 up though.
