    Motor Locked up

I've got my S52 in my car and wired up. The trouble is that the motor is locked up. I know the motor turned freely when I purchased it and checked it prior to tossing it in the car. I used the Getrag 260 with the e30 clutch flywheel and starter. I'm guessing that there is some issue with the clutch/flywheel combo or possibly a bad starter. Another suggestion I've heard is that I might have to grind part of my oil pan as has been discussed in a few threads on here. I don't THINK that's the case but I'm not 100% sure. I need to tear into the vehicle and confim things but I was looking for any suggestions I might not have thought of.
    Thanks in advance.

How locked up are you talking? Can you turn it over with a breaker bar on the crank nut?

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

The back of your flywheel is hitting your oilpan/engine block.

In order to use the e30 single mass flywheel on an s52, you are supposed to have the backside of the flywheel machined down for clearance.

Yeah, thats probably your problem. Some machine shops won't take off enough material though, so its easy enough to grind down some of the casting on the oil pan.

or unless he took off his A/C and his A/C pulley and reused the stock bolts, they will turn into the block and keep the engine from cranking. Happened to me

Why do you guys keep using e30 clutches and flywheels with S52s?

That's interesting. That means the holes are open, if you removed the bolts, you would have holes in your block. I've never heard of a block designed like that.

Nah, he didn't mean that the bolts would screw into the block or timing cover.

He meant that the bolts would stick out of the rear of the damper and hit the timing cover.

Seriously. Cut that out. If you can afford an S50 or S52, you can afford the clutch and flywheel for said motor.

This applies to those of you who use a 260 with the M motor also... the M3 clutch stuff fits.
