How to Properly Install CSB

    You install the CSB "backwards" when you install an e36 driveshaft because it goes on the opposite shaft half from the e30. This is so that the orientation of the CSB WRT the chassis remains the same.

          zimmie i had the same problem when i tryed using a shaft from a 318, the m3 or 328 version i have installed lined up perfectly, what shaft do you have?e30m3?

            I quess this is a bit anal, but I'm not comfortable about just flipping the CSB on e36 shaft.

            The shaft has a collar:

            On which the CSB is designed to lean on with a rubber neck:

            If you flip the CSB, the shaft collar will rest directly against the bearing itself, since there's no neck:


            Now the main stress direction for the bearing isn't shaftwise, so it's probably okay to do this, but the shaft collar has potential for rubbing against the exposed bearing which will shorten it's life.

            Can someone confirm that I measured things right? I'm thinking of making a properly sized nylon washer between them just to be sure.
