My opinion is that an M50TU E30 is worth around 4-5K, and an S50US E30 is worth 7-8K.

If the body is perfect, I'd up my valuation. 5 lug swaps, Euro HFM, Schrick, etc. would clearly add value as well.

I know you dumped a LOT of cash with maintenance parts, but unfortunately most maintenance does not figure in 100% into the price of a car.

Well I have a lot of add ons and a set of Kopi's to go with. I would keep the stereo and rims and take $5.5K I guess. But I figured whoever buys it will want the 17's. Remember, this has the UBER RARE FUH RAZE SWISS CUPHOLDER!!!!

No love for the S50? Why?

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

That's about what I figured. My car's body is not in great shape, but the motor and swap are. There are a lot of mods to factor in also. Plus a dyno sheet (~200hp? Running it friday.), alignment, and a current emissions sticker. I would like $7k-ish, but obviously thats flexible. It also has a brand new spec e30 suspension (minus bars) and brand new Azenis tires on nice looking 16s.

e36s in beat shape are not worth a lot right now. For example, the red one in the FS section... $4k is a dream for that car. I would guess it goes for less than half that. Or atleast it should.

Nobody would even consider $3k + a nicer e36 325i coupe for my car, but that's what I want right now.

So I guess I'll hold on to my car for a bit.

i had one in the e30 m3, but i sold that bitch.

after having a 95 & 99 e36 m3, and driving them back to back everyday, i like the s52 more. not only that, the 99 was clearly faster on the freeway at high speeds.

both good motors, and both s50's were screamers... but i'm a fan of the 3.2 torque.

Did the 99 have an M50 manifold? I find that an E36 with the M/S52 manifold has a much larger slug of torque down low, and it makes daily driving fairly nice.

the 99 was a dinan car, tuning, intake, exhaust, etc... but stock manifold. for a dd the 99 was awesome.

I guess im not the only one. I've noticed that too on my dad's 2.5L m52......i thought it was the obd2 headers making that extra torque down there.

Yeah, the M/S52 intake manifold runners favor better air velocity down low because they are smaller than those found on the M/S50 manifold. So they run out of steam up top, but the bottom end is really nice for a DD.

I recently picked up another E36 M3 and just love driving it. Such a great all around car.

The e30 is nice, but lacks the civility that I like on the day to day. Not only that, but it's nice maintaining a car that was meant to be that way from the factory (that and it is insurable for fair value).

                              Anyone want an S52 OBDI 89 E30 325is? :???:
I like the power delivery, even with a S3.25 city cruisin 5th is nice and torqey.

maybe my car is the odd one out, but a few of you guys have driven it. It's my daily driver. No maintenance concerns and the s50 is the torquiest motor I've ever had (except my volvo turbo). It's got good power delivery and really really smooth. My other car is an s14 m3 so it's hard to figure exactly what smooth is.

I think about selling my car too, but I'm just going to throw a j-stock suspension on it and go beat it up at the track next year. With the m3 5-lug swap and brakes it really is a balanced and nice car to drive around.

I agree that e36's are inherently smoother, but I'm starting to think that has to do more with the sound deadening and the overall weight of the car. My 318is has almost no sound deadening and weighs almost nothing compared to an e36
