E39 528i oil pan- can it be used?

I've got a line on a pretty cheap M52 from an E39 528i, seller says it has a blown head gasket, but it's complete with all accessories, including oil pan.

I know the common pan to use for the E30 24v swap is the E34 M50 pan- just wondering if anyone has used the E39 M52 pan?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the E39 M52 have a rear oil sump?

I can if and when I get this engine. ;)

Was just trying to figure out if I could easily cover my costs on this deal..... I figured if the oil pan could be used on the E30 24v swap it would be common knowledge by now.

I'll post up some pics if I get it- should know in the next day or two.

EDIT: per realoem diagrams, it does look like the E39 528i is a rear sump oil pan.......ahh, well.....
