There has to be a turner or jim c chip for a obd1 m52 no? maybe try a s50 chip? I think Permit had a set up close to what your about to build and he had problems with AA and ran a stock s50 chip and it ran pretty well. Not up to its full potential im sure but it ran pretty clean.

contact MarkD (http://dsylva-tech.ca/), i know he had a chip for M50 with S50 cams. He might put together a chip for that + HFM

HFM is probably a waste on M50 even with m3 cams

HFM is definitely a waste. It's also the difference between an off the shelf chip and something that needs to be custom setup for his motor.

OBDI M52 chip would not run his motor well at all. A stock S50 chip would likely make better power.

The important things to match to a chip:

        1) Injectors and HFM
        2) Cams and compression ratio
        2.5) Intake manifold
        3) Displacement

After he decided against changing #1 away from stock, the price for the chip went down a lot. Not much in terms of gains there, either.

I originally ran an AA chip with exact specs to match the motor, but ended up enjoying a Turner S50 chip more. All I had to do was go down to S50 injectors. AA blows at chips.

(AA chip was 21.5# inj., 2.8L, S52 cams, 540 HFM)

          (Turner chip was 17.5#??, 3.0L, S50 cams, 540 HFM)

Am in a similar predicament to the OP.

At some point I am planning to stroke my M50TU to 3.0L using S52/M54 crank (plus M54 pistons and conrods). It will be essentially an iron block M54. As there are no off the shelf s/w for this exact set up, I intend to use a stock S50 chip given the same (very nearly exact) 3.0L displacement, same sized injectors, S50 cams etc. Only CR is 10.5 vs 10.2, hopefully that isn't enough of a difference to mess up the operation of the chip.
