40lbs is a lot off the front wheels.

I would love to grab an aluminum block m52 from a z3 and convert it to an s52, then sell my motor. ;)

Blown head gasket on the aluminum motor is a little more trouble than usual. The head studs pull the threads out of the block. About $100 for the Timesert kit to fix that.

I did an OBD1 conversion on mine. I have a standalone dual VANOS controller. It's almost worth it just for the DISA valve... I've been really impressed with how effective it is. The extra intake advance is nice, too.

It's more than 40 lbs off the front. I love the way my car feels on the Aluminum diet, I'm at 2700 lbs with full gas.

Can you just bolt the s52 head on the aluminum m52 block?
