Ok this is the point I am at . I replaced the sensor still have a light on . I have checked the wiring from sensor plug thru engine harness thru THR dapter and to the e30 bady harness still perfect . Here is my ? I have a check panel from en e30 convertible with the oil level light . My body harness is from a 1989 M3 bumper to bumper . My thoughts are that since my s14 4 cylinder M3 engine has no level sensor in the pan and never did that maybe my check contol unit computer not the led panel but the computer is not the proper one for this set up ? I am really reaching here I know but I want this light out ! the correct way .

Isn't pin #2 supposed to be grounded to the chassis?

Pin 2 is a ground and I have ground there . the other 2 wires are spot on according to THR .

at this point my next guess it that the resistance value from the e34 sensor to the e30 sensor is not the same so I have to try a dry run with an e30 sensor and see if the light goes out .

Is your body harness M3 or a cabrio? I only ask since I know looking in my body side connector that there are like 11 pins, period. You might have to run a lead from the c101 to the check panel, at least this is one of the things I had in mind while gathering parts, since I too plan to make the sender work, just because it's there.

I haven't done it yet, but I get a feeling those pigtail leads in the THR harness might hit c101 pins we might not have. Just a guess for now.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

The factory m3 engine side harness has a resisitor jumping the leads for the OLS . I installed this and the light will go out . so the bottom line is the check panel need a bid of resistance to function correctly . I believe that the e30 e30 sensor have a different value . I need to find the value and correct it with a resistor I am not giving up !

Cool, good to know the wires are there. I wasn't sure they would be, as few connectors as are in the C101.

Ok here is the deal . E34 SENSOR mount from the bottom . E30 mounts from the topmeaning they work differently so when you wire the up according to the etm you have them reversed swap the pins and in my case anyways I am onto problem # 2 3 4 5 6 hahah
