Maybe the knock sensors are reversed? You can't really tell which one is which just by pulling back the boots on the connectors IIRC; you need to trace which pin on the DME each sensor's signal wire goes to. Pin 79 and 80 if I recall correctly.

Just swapped them no change at all .
Drove home with no o2 sensor plugged in and it still does it . I have no accurate tach yet but it really only pings way up I would say 6 to 6500 and under a load hill or something . A few have mentioned dyno I can get it done local and think I will . Then I will post results .
smog test results any clues ?

Are you getting enough fuel? I ran into a similar problem and it turned out to be the fuel pump was not capable of keeping up fuel pressure thus the car leaned out at high rpms under load and due to aggresive this lean condition lead to detonation. It started at around 4.5k rpm or so.sigpic
