Is anybody here running a supercharged s52? There are alot of used centrifugal units on the market from e36 m3s. It seems like it wouldnt be that hard to get one going and get in the high 200s for whp.Leave a comment:

My car walks 996 Carrera S's, 135i's, Z4Mcoupes with exhaust, Mustang GT's, M20's on 6-7psi, barely on a GTO (not sure what year but probably not the 6.0 :)). All races were fair, meaning I didn't have any speed advantage. The 135i, Z4M and boosted E30 were driven by capable friends, so driver error can be dismissed.
This is with all the N/A bolt-ons minus cams and pulleys and a 2.93 diff and ZF tranny (with which anything shorter than a 3.25 diff will kill your acceleration)
So I would say, yes, this is a quick car. And the best part is that you're just a snail away from an easy 500hp. 8)
And remember, 0-60 and 1/4 times are only as good as your launching capability. How often are you running against someone from a stop, let alone against someone capable of getting their car to move 60' under 2.2 sec's.

Maybe it's the driver that hurting my times the most? I would be very happy with your times!
FWIW I originally had a full e36 M3 exhaust choked into a stock e30 325is muffler. Replacing that muffler (and more importantly the pipes that went into it) really made a difference. It was well worth the trouble and cost in my opinion.
Thanks for the post.Leave a comment:

Oh for sure Stu, you out of all people know that any E30 with 200+whp needs at least 225s on the back. My biggest concern is the low trap speeds being posted, traction doesn't really factor in there.Jay--
Remember that an E30 S50 will not go like an E36 or E46 in a clutch-drop drag race. These cars are light, usually have skinnier tires than E36/46, and with the trailing-arm suspension--once the tires do start spinning--they ain't regaining traction! Plus the majority of them have relatively worn-out limited slip units.
However, on a roll (say 40mph or 60mph), traction is not an issue and that's where you will really see the E30 pull away.
