    E30 M3 clutch?

I'm doing an S50 with M20 i tranny and flywheel and have recently been seeing people mentioning using an E30 M3 clutch. Is this something I should do or is the M20 i clutch enough for the S50's power?

Also, what exactly do I have to do to the M20 flywheel to make it work. I know guys, I should search. But help me out this once. :)

You can keep the flywheel just the way it is (of course smoothing it down is a good idea) and use the E30 M3 clutch...that's what I did on my previous 24v. I read Stu was complaining about his E30 M3 clutch lasting only 40k miles however.

Well of course I plan to have it resurfaced [and lightened] but I thought there was an issue of oil pan clearance or some shit like that.

On the clutch what would I ask for, just Sachs M3 clutch, that's it?

To use the I flywheel, you need to have the back of the flywheel machined down to clear the oilpan.
I'm not sure about using an m3 clutch though.

If you dont have it in the budget to get the baller flywheel kit, try to find the older UUC flywheel. Its something like 12 or 13 pounds and uses the stock clutch kit. You can use the e36 flywheel/clutch/starter but make sure you use the pilot bearing from the m20 so it matches up with the 260 (even if you go m3)!

i have the m20 flywheel machined down along with a e30m3 clutch kit i got off ebay. the guy that worked on my swap actually has a s52 with shricks and all sorts of other goodies and he runs the same clutch set up also.

Matt - do a little looking on S14 about pressure plates - at least the Sachs Sport one had a few part #'s that were being used, but there was one that wasn't lasting vewry long for most people. The one poster who mentioned the 40K unit was probably one of those setups.

I forget off the top of my head, but one vendor (Turner maybe) was the only one who really knew the right one, despite the fact that the wrong spec one physically fit.

The bummer was it was ~$100 more for the right one, but $100 vs. powertrain problems - I'll spend the C note up front.

No promises, but I'll try & post a link.

BTW, for all the ORCA haters - there's a real pretty pic on what to grind off the oilpan for a M20 flywheel. (Not pointed @ you, Matt.)

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

Its alot easier and safer and probably about the same cost for the e36 stuff.

                        Id run that.

What do you guys think of this?

When I asked what the brand was this is what he told me.
this is a heavy duty Sach ducktile iron cover and the disc is custom disc from clutch net performance, all parts are above standard ratings to ensure to handle the power, 30% over stock rating

It was that yellow bar under the pic.

If you were kidding I didn't get it, but I sure wouldn't do it without specific part #'s off the side of the box, then a quick reference over to S14.n to see if they even jive. Seems like the guy who figured all this out was the guy with the Acura NSX. I think he's got NSX in his user name.
