    Quietest electric fan?

I need to use an Electric fan, and mine is SO loud.

I want one that is quiet, but still has the CFM to keep my E30 cool. Suggestions?

curved blades will be quieter. I would rather mine sounding like the front end was spooling up than worrying about overheating.

Mine sounds like a jet engine...

Mine too, But I only have a 12" fan. I was debating on modifing an E36 unit to see if it will fit. The seem not to fail as badly as E30 units.

the one I am using right now is from an E24? I dont remember. I have it hardwired directly, and when it is on, it is louder than the motor.

... and I have to run it all the time :(

Older coolant? clogged radiator? It should not need to be on all the time.

M30... I dont need it @ speeds over 20mph, but it is annoying to turn it on and off.

You are worried about the noise from your fan when you have straight pipes?

I'm using a straight blade 16'' slim Spal fan. I can only here it if I'm standing out side my car and/or the engine is off.

                      Joe, your a waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles.

You will have to see my fans when you come back. So loud it chatters your teeth, and I love every second of it.

                      ;)

You also have a slightly larger core radiator correct? Do you have an oil cooler?

Nope. Stock e36 radiator. No oil cooler.

I just don't get stuck in traffic. EVER.

I have had to pull off and run the heater before, but only once. I am also pretty bold about jumping into the HOV lane for a half mile to run the temps down.

I have a flexalite 16" curved blade fan, 2010cfm at 13amps. next time I will go for the 2500cfm version at 17 amps, although the 2000 has been enough so far (just barely). you can hardly hear it over the motor.
