Swaps using OBD2

Thanks for the basic hookup info, it really simplifies it. I guess my main question would be what has been used for the actual wiring hookup between the EWS components and the engine harness. Was the E36 under dash wire harness torn apart just for the EWS wiring? Or was each component (ignition ring, transmitter, EWS module) connector/plug from the E36 harness cut off with several inches of wire and a harness made to tie into the OBD2 engine harness? Basically how would I interface the EWS components with OBD2 engine harness in an E30.

hey mike - hows the euro coming?
love the sketch, nice work. not sure if it makes a difference if they are switched ......but, from the etm, ews2 pin1 goes to the starter and ews2 pin3 comes from the ign switch. also, ews2 pin2 goes to the diagnostic plug via x20pin17.

Wiring EWS is simple. It just takes a little more time and you need the correct componants. It is a must to have the EWS module and key from the engine you are swapping into the E30. The ring antenna and the transmit/receive box can be from any car, but if they have the module and key, then they should have these componants available as well.

I thought that as well until someone recently posted that info. Like I said, I would have to do more reasearch, but someone has said it is possable, that and m50 manifold for the increase in HP, but, again, unfounded info from r3v. It was posted somewhere in 24v swaps, I did post in it, check my profile, search pssts by me. Within last 5-7 days.

From my understanding/searching deleting EWS is only possible on OBD1 systems...?

For those of you who have kept the OBD2 for your swaps, how did you wire in your EWS components considering it's not part of the engine harness? Any other wire issues?

I have heard from others that a Turner chip can disable ews fo obd-2. I may go this route if after some more reasearch it is feasable.
