a little help please.. s50 swap related.

    Here goes,
Im pretty sure i will take the s50 swap route.
ive found an s50 engine, tranny, harness, and dme for 2000 picked up.i plan to also buy an e34 NV m50 to use for parts. this can be had for 400.hopefully within $3000 we can complete the swap; the budget to include suspension is 5k.
The seller tells me the s50 was supercharged, and that it has an s52 head.we are putting this into an e30 325es and plan to run it N/A.A big factor is time in completing the swap, it cant leave the car undrivable for long. for that,

now i have some questions: whats the easiest combination to get this running?drop in the entire s50 and ZF this uses the stock e30 brace, and the e36 mount arms with Which engine mounts? Can someone recommend a good set of mounts for the engine/ tranny?

which driveshaft do we want?and whats the best diff to go with? (3.25?)
Now im still confused on the Cluster, how does that work? is it converted inside with the main harness connection (c101?)

Lastly, whats with converting to obd1, do i need to do it? and will it all convert with just the m50 stuff?what are some other good power adders while im at it and if budget allows?what headers do i want to use( s52 ones? any cheap alternatives?)2.5 or 3 inch exhaust?

    Thanks.

hopefully a wicked s50'd e30 will result in the next month.
we plan to pick the engine up this weekend.. (if i can ever get in touch with the seller)

You'll also need a wiring adapter, PM Jason89i or FredK for the exact pin chart.

      j/k

        -S50 is already OBDI

        -Get a driveshaft from 96+ E36 M3. 95's were different, so they won't work.

-Yes, 3.25 will be best with ZF tranny.

-Cluster should work fine for the most part. For some reason my parking brake light would stay on and I think some other BS idiot light. I just pulled the bulbs...

E28 Mounts, ZF E36 tranny, choice of either 2.93, 3.25 or 3.46 (LDS preferred) 320i booster

If you can L/F and E34 M5 Clutch

Nope, the M5 setup is the best. Although the 735i could be better, with an iX booster.

But you have to go with a new M/C as well as the booster.

With the Porsche setup, you can use your existing M/C and you don't have to run new reservoir lines.

The 944 booster with a 25mm Ate M/C will give you a very nice pedal, and the total cost of the parts new are less expensive as well.

That's my standard answer to everything...

Read The Freaking Manual (the manual is the sticky thread at the top of this forum)

Don't forget that AKG has a bolt in booster for $180.

Not cheap, but it is quick and easy.

Was anything else changed when the supercharged this? Especially since it has an s52 head, which in my humble opinion is the poorer of the two combo's, I would rather have the 3.2 block with s50 head. Either way, you will want toe obd1 wiring harness if it is s52. And there is the coolant sensors which the s52 has one port and the s50 has two (you want the dual) Most everyone taps the s52 head for a second port and then replaces the senders. I do beleive that bimmerworld is selling a "Y" adapter for this so that you dont have to drill the head anymore. I may be wrong as I havent had to look into it.

Cluster wise, just get an 325 "i" cluster with the correct plug and you will be fine. e28 m535 motor mounts, both drivers side ones will work. Make sure they are green.

There is more too. BUT Freakin READ the thread. All these questions are answered in there.

2000 is cheap for all that, curious if its messed up via the supercharger and obdII head on it.
