I think he meant, S50 head on S52 bottom end is preferable to having the opposite combination--S52 head on S50 bottom end only because it'd be .2L smaller in displacement. It was a weird way to say, I'd rather have a 3.2L bottom end.

The heads are the same thing though, but the cam trays and cams are slightly different. Performance-wise they are the same.

Dont forget Treehouse offers tons of this jazz to make an M50 swap easy (easier). I think the brake booster Treehouse sells is like 150 brand new and wiring harness adapters made custom tailored to the chassis its going into and motor it will be running. All brand new parts.

Okay, the seller is Fritzintn, i think thats his name here too. he's selling the "s50 swap for 2700"

supposedly it checked out fine on compression and leakdown, but "the vanos needing to be re-indexed was the only known issue"

It has the UUC e34 m5 aluminum flywheel and clutch upgrade.. plus the donor car needs a new clutch kit, Hence the ZF route.

Ive read a portion of the manual, comprehensive thread, but there are just so many pages to go, and i plan to pick up the engine this weekend. i figured a new thread would be best for quick answers.

If we can use the standard e30 driveshaft for any combination, that would be best. we can work around that i hope.

The booster will be decided later i guess, there are several solutions correct?

If we use the ZF tranny, whats the deal with the slave cylinder and line?

i was under the impression that the 735i and the IX booster where exactly the same and for that reason you could just use either setup with its MC and call it a day.

used to work for advanced auto, they list the same part number for the boosters. MC's are different and so is the M5 MC.
              No more e30s for me.
